catch your breath

Apparently lack of sleep and a disorganized schedule never hurt anybody. I can't even really start to recount a MoCCA packed weekend so I'll just avoid it until I can catch my breath... or at lest a little sleep.

Being around other people's work does get me pretty jazzed though so I rustled up some fan art from Joe Flood's fine comic 'Life's a Croc' as well as a bunch more thumbnails for a mini that has been kicking around in my head for a while.

Cricket it my favorite.

the longest day

Happy first day of summer and the longest day of the year! In truth, I can't really tell that it feels any longer because I'm searching for a new apartment. Apartment hunting seems to guarantee a long day. Ugh.

This is a nice little piece of fluff that I did to calm down the other day. Thinking about a book project all the time wears me down a bit so starting a drawing without any real intention of how it's going to end up is nice for a switch. It kinda feels like reading a crappy book at the beach after a semester of text books.

Location drawing serves a similar function as well as lovely excuse to enjoy nice weather.

Most of these were done alongside the fair and just James Keegan who can be found at http://jamesmkeegan.blogspot.com/

girls (sans the z)

http://www.friends-lulu.org/anthology_ggtgs.php

Che-che-che-check it out now.
There are a lot of really amazing people in here (wait, why am I in here...?) This was my first time pair up with the talented writer Diane Colchamiro who has not only a wonderful sense of humor but shares my distaste for monkeys. Anyway, this was put together by the awesome power and sturdy determination MK Reed and Robin Enrico. I'm particularly excited about Hellen Jo's submission. After a chance run in with her minis I was immediately ready for more.

If you suffer from an acute weariness for the cliche of the girl's anthology (as I do) I recommend holding judgement and flipping through it when it comes out. There's always exceptions to rules and new ways to do an old job.

adventures in dog sitting

For the past few days I left the hub of metropolitan life to kick it back in bucolic ol' Connecticut at my parents house. Everyone else in my family had left to see my old man race at Watkins Glen and somehow I got the job of dog sitting my own dogs. Weird perhaps but a great chance to get a lot of family/house stuff done while simultaneously receiving some unconditional canine affection. I thought about posting some sweet puppy pictures but I remembered how dangerously high the sissy level is in here so how about a (kinda) manly jam comic?

This was done with the help of fine talents Edwin Vazkez and Tom Pitilli. We met up for some lunch and this came about between heavily sugared lemonades I was gulping. It was super hot out and they suggested I should post it. It should, at the very lest, even out last weeks post.

Yes, I know. How about we move on then?

The book that I'm currently working on is every so slowly happening (although it really doesn't feel like it sometimes.) Just before I start getting excited about penciling the first 15 pages I realize I have some 200 more to go. Yipes. But I guess that's the nature of the beast. I do feel like I'm on some emotional comic roller-coaster sometimes though. Think of high school with more pictures and less puberty. There'll be days where I can bust out 3 penciled pages like it's nothing but then the next day I can't even draw the main character. This might be funny if is wasn't so depressing. Ah well, even a shelled egg won't jump into yer mouth (make sure you read that last bit with a good strong yiddish accent in your head.)

Pages 2, 3 and 10!
