Pickle...?!

So I finally ending getting (read: suckered in to) another foster dog. For those of you who don't know me, this means I will probably be keeping it until the end of time unless something goes horribly awry. My sisters and I are pretty sure we're going to call it Pickle. She's only been with me about 3 days but considering she's pretty neurotic and scared of just about everything, I think she and I are a perfect fit.

She's quite good at being cuddly and is perfect for being on my lap when I'm at my drawing desk or computer. But God forbid the heater come on or someone's garage door opens outside, 'cause then she gets all stiff and alert and ends up looking like this: She was abused so it will take a little time for her to get over this but I think she'll be ok. Even in the few days she's been with me, she's calmed down a lot. And, to be fair, she's not very threatening even when she's upset. She's so small that her growls sound like purring!

in my fevered waking dreams...

Just in case you need to know more things about me that you don't care about, here's what I'm really into as of late:

Renewed love/obsession with eyewear (did it ever really go away?) Especially when it concerns characters that don't wear glasses to begin with.

Dogs with MOHAWKS. Mohawks on dogs, people. Think about it.

(Don't worry, I'll have some legitimate work to post here soon. I just had to get this off my chest.)

west coast vs east coast rain

Being a week away from it and with my cold now in full swing, now seems as good a time as any for a mini report on my time at APE in San Francisco. It's a little hard to believe I was across the U.S. last weekend bumpin' around with full days helping Matt Madden and Jess Able with their daughter Aldara but my jet lag on Monday and burgeoning cold could not refute it. It seemed to rain the whole time we were there but despite that and the busy schedule Matt and Jess had, I had a good time. I always get a little nervous traveling with people who aren't my family but that's only until I remember that other people's trips are amazingly less stressful (is my family really that crazy..?!)
I was able to see some familiar faces as well as meet a couple new ones who I had only spoken with via phone/internet which really made the journey worth while. Also, seeing Matt and Jess function as family and work partners was kinda a treat for me. I know how my family works, so it's really nice to see how others go about it especially when they're working and successful in the same profession I'm in.
